Sustainable-is cheese

The deardairy brand was created for people who are environmentally and socially conscious, but they also have a hard time sticking to a diet, or fully committing to buying ethical products. The idea behind the brand is to provide an option of balance and enjoyment without sacrificing quality, ethics, and being kinder towards something that may not check all the boxes.

Sustainable-ish is inspired by the term healthyish, discovered by Bon Appetit. Sustainable-ish implies that some effort is better than no effort at all.

This project is my sustainable-ish interpretation of branding and packaging design for a healthyish product like cheese.
The brand is built with traceability and transparency concepts in mind.

The package includes the carbon footprint information on each package to emphasize the transparency aspect of the brand.

A recycling symbol is considered to be an indication that the product is environmentally friendly. Unfortunately, recycling is not the solution to the environmental problem, so instead of recyclable, the package is reusable and compostable.
The package is made out of waxed paper, that is biodegradable and can be reused several times till it loses the quality. If the package is not in the reusable condition it can be composted. Finally, if the packaging can also be returned to the company.

The package emphasizes the traceability aspect by providing the name of a farm or a creamery with an address, there the cheese was made. More information about the origin of the cheese and the package provided within a reach of a smartphone through a QR-code.
The project includes a conference poster as a more extensive presentation of the design research about sustainble-ish products.
